In one week, I'll be presenting a lightning talk (aka five minutes or less) about my independent study. I'm very excited but also very nervous. Five minutes is not that much time and when I get nervous, I usually talk fast. And when I get excited about something (like this independent study), I talk even faster. Put those two together and yikes, I need to breathe and s l o w down. However, I'm so excited to have a platform to share my work with my peers.
Hyperlink Roundup -- April 6th
NEW WEEKLY FEATURE: I'm OBSESSED with hyperlinks. I can no longer just quit my internet browser and expect to open up a new, clean, empty window. I always go to History --> Reopen all windows from last session and watch as at least 20 windows magically appear before me. I keep all sorts of stuff open to read (at some point) and hyperlinks are so very dangerous for me.

If I could do something entirely else -- restart my entire education -- I think I would focus on psychology and how the brain reacts in regards to music. I'm fascinated with this topic, which I first discovered when I began playing music (circa third grade piano lessons). I remember being in high school, playing the clarinet in our annual band show and feeling so incredibly happy. Those moments that are both in body and out of body moments. The music physically surrounding you while you think, "This moment and everyone in it is enough."

It's Friday and while there's no snow on the ground, there are for sure clouds in the sky covering up our bright sun! It's been a crazy week being back in Illinois and going to school; I think I needed about a week to get back into the swing of things.

Recently, I've been finding podcasts to be really relaxing and entertaining. I've been lucky to find and have been recommended some great all female podcasts. It's great to see interesting, powerful, and confident women working their way into a mostly male dominated field. It seems that each episode I listen to gives me a lot to think about and lots of world wide web links to follow after the fact. What's great about many of these podcasts below are that you can literally just jump into the most recent episode and back track if you fall in love with the hosts (and what they talk about).
