Pennsylvania Adventures

Sometimes I come home from work and still can't believe that three weeks ago I straight up moved to Pennsylvania. I've settled into a routine at Penn State and it feels like home. The librarians and staff have been incredibly welcoming and supportive. I spend my days meeting with all sorts of fascinating people, learning the ins and outs of the Pattee and Paterno libraries, and attempting to remember as many names as possible.

What's Cooking? [A hopefully weekly series]

Cooking hasn't been something I've excelled at. Growing up, I would help my mom or dad in the kitchen, but I was always the one volunteering to help bake cookies over casseroles. Even when I got to grad school, I stuck with my reliable grilled cheese sandwich and moved into the world of Clif Bars. I made lots of excuses about lack of time and was also lucky to know a couple of good cooks during my years in grad school. They feed me and I provided lots of baked goods.

However, now that I have a full time job, a new place, and far more spare time than I sometimes feel comfortable with, I see "ACCOMPLISH COOKING" as a goal looming in front of my face.

Moving, new apartment, new job, and loads of updates

For those who know more personally, you know that July has been a busy time for me. I finished up six and a half weeks of digital literacy with the kids of Urbana Neighborhood Connections Center (UNCC) and packed all my belongings for a trek to Pennsylvania. The move was due to my new (and first "adult, full-time" job) as a reference and instruction librarian at Penn State in State College, PA. I'm two days in and figured it was time for an overdue.
