Maybe the title is misleading. I've blogged plenty of times before. On all sorts of platforms about all sorts of different things. Recently I've had the nagging feeling that I need to "get my professional life together." Aka update my resume, write a few cover letters, and finally figure out a darn e-Portfolio. With life moving onto the web (or so it seems), e-Portfolios are a big buzzword. A digital place to show off, to pull all the things you've done over the years into one spot. I've had dozens of e-Portfolios before but could never find a sustainable platform or the motivation to keep it going.
But here's the thing, I love libraries and the prospect of being a librarian. Never has my brain and thoughts been so challenged and welcomed in one place. I want this to be a digital spot to contain and write about these experiences, both in and out of the classroom.
What is point of this blog? Well, maybe it's best to describe how this blog would be dressed...
Business casual.
This blog will be a place for me to write about my grad school experiences; things I'm reading, hyperlinks that have me up all night, discussions I'm having, and projects I'm taking part in. At the same time, it will be a place to learn about me, Hailley, as someone more than just a librarian-in-training. You'll hear about my friends, our adventures in Urbana-Champaign, road trips, and drinking far too much coffee at Espresso Royale.
The rest of this website will be professional. My resume, contact information, social media presence, experience, and completed projects. Feel free to explore around and let me know what you think!
